The world is waking up to the need to use resources more wisely and recycle as much as possible in order to limit the impact that modern society has on our planet.
For over 40 years, Exacompta Clairefontaine has been integrating ecology and sustainable development into its corporate strategy. We aim to be responsible corporate citizens by using, wherever possible, only certified and environmentally accredited materials to manufacture our products.
60% of our products are now made from certified materials (card, board, paper and even polypropylene). 40% of our ranges have the FSC® or PEFCTM certifications for virgin paper fibre or the Blue AngelTMcertification for products made from recycled materials, being from either paper waste or post-consumer plastic.
The Forever® range of filing and desktop accessories is the leading example of the group’s environmental commitment, as it is the first complete range made from Blue AngelTMcertified paper and plastic.
The range features a comprehensive selection of desktop products including drawers, letter trays, magazine files, waste bins and pen pots. To complement the desktop items, there is a wide choice of filing also available. These include dividers, display books, ring binders, folders and document wallets.
Awareness of environmental issues has been increasing throughout the stationery industry, particularly in relation to sustainability and the need to reduce waste going to landfill.
The Forever® brand has been enthusiastically received by the stationery sector, with listings within all industry wholesalers. The range is also undergoing current listing reviews for Morrisons and Asda supermarkets.
In the past, premium pricing has been an associated factor with the production of recycled materials, creating somewhat of a barrier into the market. Therefore, the challenge has been to be able to produce such items whilst maintaining a price point that remains attractive for all. Recent manufacturing technologies within the company now enable us to supply quality recycled items at a cost effective level.
In addition, internal production processes for recycled plastics have evolved considerably. Thus, where we originally made Forever® desktop and filing from recycled juice bottles only, we now manufacture these using post-consumer plastics from a much wider range of products, including electrical appliances such as fridges.
To support the growth in demand with dealers and retailers alike, we are continuing to expand the Forever® brand with more items planned for launch, including a new Forever® recycled pad.
In order to further increase the awareness of the environmental message and benefits that the Forever® brand promotes, for 2019 we have launched a multi-channel campaign that reaches across all sectors of the stationery market, which can also be utilised by the dealers/retailers within their own promotional initiatives.
