Alton-based tech start-up jisp has partnered with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) to facilitate cashless donations. Using jisp’s NFC stickers and the app, the charity can assist people who typically don’t carry cash to donate easily and instantly using their mobile phones.
With the jisp app downloaded and a payment card added the user taps or scans a special sticker to donate a specified amount to the life-saving charity. Money is transferred securely and verified by Visa or Mastercard.
Julian Fisher, CEO of jisp, said: “We are very excited about our partnership with HIOWAA! As less and less people carry cash in their pockets, we came up with a solution to help charities collect more donations using the device people always have in their pockets – their mobile phones. Despite having a small team, we always strive to make a difference in the world with our solutions, and now we can prove this by supporting a truly worthwhile cause. We are really looking forward to seeing the results in the coming months!”
The tech firm has also named HIOWAA as their Charity Partner of the Year and will be participating in the upcoming events to raise vital funds to help keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.
Ray Southam, HIOWAA Partnerships Manager, said: “We are really grateful to jisp for nominating HIOWAA to be the Charity of choice for their new contactless donation initiative. Raising money in this manner will help to get everyone involved in fundraising, and the money raised will ensure we can continue to be there for members of our community, when they need us most.”

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is the independent Charity that brings an advanced critical care team to the most seriously ill and injured patients in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, giving them the best chance of survival and recovery, when the worst happens.
Using both a helicopter and emergency response vehicle, the Charity brings a team of highly skilled pre-hospital emergency medicine doctors and specialist paramedics to the scene of an incident, effectively bringing the hospital to the patient when time is critical. Called out to an average of six incidents every day, including cardiac arrests, road traffic collisions, falls and assaults, our life-saving service is operational 356 days a year, both day and night.
It currently costs £15,000 a day to maintain our life saving service, and it is only thanks to the generosity of the communities that we serve that we are able keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.
