Today is National Stress Awareness Day (NSAD), an annual event that has been running since 1998 to raise awareness of stress and promote the importance of wellbeing for individuals and organisations.
NSAD is organised and promoted by The International Stress Management Association (ISMA), a registered charity that exists to promote sound knowledge and best practice in stress management, both nationally and internationally.
There is still a stigma associated with personal and work stress-related issues. ISMA aims to combat this stigma, raise the profile of stress related issues in the home and workplace and change attitudes towards the management of stress at work.
The theme for NSAD this year is “Workforce Wellness – Your Prime Investment”
Carole Spiers, ISMA Chair and Founder of National Stress Awareness Day, commented: “The company workforce is an organisation’s most valuable resource. It is highly difficult, or even impossible, to replace this human asset which is why ‘workforce wellness’ is an organisational imperative.”
