Kensington & Chelsea Council Swapping “Parking meters for Trees”

  • logo

Kensington and Chelsea Council is swapping its 700 parking meters for 70 trees as it aims to make the transition to completely cashless, carbon-neutral parking by 2020. As part of its contract with PayByPhone, Kensington and Chelsea Council will become the first council in the UK to participate in the mobile parking payment provider’s new Meters for Trees initiative.

This will see PayByPhone supply the council with one tree for every 10 parking meters removed and donate funds for a similar number of trees to be saved in the Brazilian rainforest.
