The new range of products have been in development for two years

The group’s new business, James Cropper 3D Products, has developed a bespoke, design-engineered, moulded paper packaging product which they say challenges plastic in terms of colour, quality and performance.

The product is made using 100% renewable natural fibres from sustainably managed forests and consumers can recycle it with regular paper.

Chief Technology Officer Patrick Willink says JC3DP is a sustainable alternative to plastic in many packaging applications, but what really sets their product apart from other moulded fibre products is the ability to make it in an extremely wide variety of colours.

Willink commented: “This means we can work with brand owners to match the specific colour they need with real consistency.

“We have 171 years of expertise working with fibre and colour to create true colour definition and consistency. We are already recognised as experts in colour matching to create paper packaging for global luxury brands.

“Although moulded fibre packaging trays are in use in natural colours or white, it is our expertise in fibre and colour which allows us to make them in a greater range of more vivid, consistent colours than ever before.”

James Cropper 3D Products (JC3DP), based in Burneside, Cumbria, will showcase the product at Packaging Innovations 2016, at Olympia London, on September 14 and September 15.
