Rachel Forster, business development manager of Hotbox, has had a successful design career spanning 20 years. She met Jamie Rothwell, founder and managing director of Hotbox, whilst bonding over a shared interest in how to make people’s lives easier at work, and together they designed the Hotbox 1 and 2 personal organisation solutions for people who work in different locations. When Rachel is not developing new Hotbox products and pondering future interior and workplace trends, she likes to carve a path down the slopes on her snowboard. Here she lists the six things she couldn’t do her job without.
1 The flexibility of Shuttle
As I move about the city, working in a variety of places, I need a bag with built-in flexibility. Shuttle, the brand new product from Hotbox, flexes to my needs wherever I work. Its capacious dual storage system has a unique cavity at the foot of the bag and an accessible laptop compartment at the rear, enabling me to keep my work tools separate from my personal items.
2 Keeping connected with Hubspot
Keeping up with clients and remembering when to make that all important call is made easy with Hubspot, the CRM and marketing tool I rely on to take care of my ‘when to call’ list. The interface is easy to use and its many features give me super-powers that an old fashioned excel doc can only dream of.
3 Organisation from my Hotbox
When working from home, pride of place goes to my eco grey Hotbox 1 – the sustainable choice for keeping my desk organised and my pens, pencils and notepads close to hand. When I want to mix things up and work in the garden, I just pick it up and take it with me.
4 Getting about on my tokyobike
My preferred way of getting around London is by bike – tokyobike. Tokyobike is a small, independent bicycle company founded in 2002 in a quiet Tokyo suburb of Yanaka and it designs beautiful bikes for city cyclists. Its Cycle to Work salary sacrifice scheme lets me save up to 42% on the cost of a bike and accessories for commuting to work.
5 Capturing the moment with my iPhone 12
I’ve been a loyal Apple fan since my first computer way back in the day. For me, the iPhone is always a pleasure to use, and the quality of the latest 12 camera for capturing inspirational shots is amazing. I love the connectivity of all Apple products; it makes taking and sharing product shots for social media a joy.
6 The view from my Velfac window
In a world of tech, it’s important to enjoy the balance of nature. The view from the Velfac window in my home office gives me just that. Observing the changing of the seasons from the colour of the leaves on the trees or just noticing how the light changes throughout the day is the perfect antidote to all those hours I spend looking at my MacBook.
