The giant ISE exhibition in Amsterdam provides a golden opportunity to catch up with developments in AV, projectors, displays and digital signage. As such, it is never short of Wow factor and this year it didn’t disappoint with some truly draw-dropping creations like the OLED Falls display on LG’s stand. We have picked out a few highlights on page 24, and you can see more in our ISE video on the Business Info website. The continuing development of curved displays gives organisations ever more inventive ways to create a memorable customer experience (CX), a key and growing area of investment for businesses, including Panasonic, which has just opened an immersive CX centre at its Bracknell HQ (see page 12). In this context, the setting up of the Digital Signage Organisation (DSO) could not be more timely. Display technologies are evolving fast and it is important for the industry to make end user customers part of the journey, not least because they often come up with the best ideas, as DSO President Simon Jackson explains in our interview on page 23. The DSO is to be applauded for providing qualifying end users with free membership and for taking seriously its mission to educate the market about developments in signage and display technologies. There are also amazing things happening at the other end of the spectrum, on the screens in our pockets. The impact of devices like the foldable Samsung Galaxy Fold (see page 15) and the Huawei Mate X could be transformative, and businesses should start preparing for their emergence now. On page 17, Anthony Main suggests how.
