The award, jointly run by the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation and the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability, was started in 2006 and recognises the achievements of disabled entrepreneurs who have overcome challenges to set up their own company and excel in their chosen business field.

In celebration of the award’s tenth anniversary new criteria have been added. Now eligible to apply are companies owned by a person with a disability, companies which predominantly employ disabled people and companies that supply products or services to disabled people.

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has also increased the cash prizes: four finalists will receive £10,000 with a top prize of £30,000 for the winner.
