Gett goes carbon neutral Gett, the black cab hailing app, is offering customers in London a greener way to get around the capital. Following an offsetting agreement with Carbon Clear, every ride booked though the app or Gett’s One Transport business booking platform will be carbon neutral. Customers can make their ride ‘carbon positive’ by paying an additional 20p per journey, with a proportion of the funds raised used to help London schools meet their air quality goals. In a separate initiative, Gett aims to increase the number of LEVC TX Electric Taxis on London’s streets by waiving commission from electric cab drivers for their first six months with the platform.

Connected life

Wearable devices
Wearable devices

PyGo wearable devices allow you to stay connected with children, elderly relatives, pets, personal belongings etc., even when there is no WiFi or cellular network available thanks to the ability of devices within 12 kilometres of each other to create their own private mesh network. A network can be expanded and strengthened by opening it up to other anonymous PyGos in the area. All data remains confidential, as it hops from one device to another until it reaches its destination, directly or indirectly via the internet. The Pylife app consolidates all your Pygo devices in one digital dashboard, allowing users to send messages, see the location of each PyGo or track various stats.

Hospitality tech platform Flyt has created a payment bot for restaurants that enables customers to pay for their bill using Facebook Messenger. The first restaurant chain in the UK to start rolling out the technology is Byron. With Byron Quickpay, the customer simply opens Facebook Messenger, selects the Byron restaurant location and enters the table number. The bill is recalled from the POS system and displayed in Messenger for the customer to approve and pay with one click.
